Custom Powder Coating

Custom powder coating adds a unique, attractive finish that is strong and resilient for lasting beauty. A powder coated finish has a chip resistant texture and can have effects such as multi-colored veining on any metal product. And, since primers are not used in the process, powder coating is an environmentally friendly procedure.

Custom powder coating is a simple, yet effective process where fine, dry plastic powder is sprayed onto a clean metal surface. As it leaves the spray gun, the powder is charged with static electricity to help it adhere to the surface. Once applied, the finish is baked at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, a process that melts the powder paint and results in a beautiful, durable finish.

In July of last year, Suburban Steel Supply purchased Columbus Custom Powder Coating Company and moved the operation to its corporate campus in Gahanna. “This was a strategic acquisition for Suburban Steel Supply. It created a smoother, more efficient process that allowed us to deliver a better customer experience in support of our service philosophy,” company President, Mark DeBelis explains. “And because we could control the process, it also allowed us to make decisions based on our customers’ needs rather than vendor deliverability.”

Suburban Steel Supply is equipped to take on all types of powder coating projects large or small from rails to lawn furniture to motorcycle parts to traffic poles. “Projects other companies may turn away are projects we are happy to complete,” states DeBellis. “Our experts will create a distinct finish for any project need, even if the piece was not fabricated by us.”

Suburban Steel Supply offers 13 stock colors but can create an unlimited array of custom colors to give a project the look a customer desires. “Our customers have come to expect a superior experience from Suburban Steel,” claims DeBellis. “We intend to deliver on that expectation every time.”
