transforming steel supply into steel service
August 6, 2007
Suburban Steel Supply, is pleased to announce it has increased its service offerings to include custom powder coating finishes.
In December 2006, Suburban Steel Supply acquired the equipment assets of Columbus Custom Powder Company and moved the facility to its Gahanna-based headquarters. The company launched Suburban Custom Powder Coating in July, 2007.
Suburban Custom Powder Coating offers over 13 stock colors and can create custom colors for unique projects.
“There is no job too small for Suburban Custom Powder Coating,” said Suburban Steel President Mark DeBellis. “This is a job shop operation that provides almost any size production powder coating for anything from motorcycle parts to traffic poles.”Custom powder coating is a simple, effective process. Fine, dry plastic powder is sprayed onto a clean metal surface. As it leaves the spray gun, the powder is charged with static electricity to help it adhere to a piece. The piece is then baked at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. While in the oven, the powder paint melts and flows to create a durable finish. Powder coating is also an environmentally friendly procedure since no primers are used in the process.
Suburban Custom Powder Coating will operate in conjunction with Suburban Steel’s ornamental and miscellaneous metal division. The launch of the division will also include the addition of one staff member.
